Crossovers are fast-becoming the modern-day family car thanks to its size and spacious interior. That’s why most automobile manufacturers have added this vehicle type in their production line. One crossover we’d like to look into right now is one of Chrysler’s latest offerings, the Dodge Journey.

First unveiled at the Frankurt Auto Show in 2007, the Dodge Journey is equipped with a number of unique features and engine options that have helped it compete against the competition. Three engine options were made available for this product. There’s the standard 2.4-liter four cylinder engine, a 3.5-liter V-6 engine solely available in North America, and a 2.7-liter V-6 engine. These engines are each paired with a six-speed automatic transmission.

As for its unique features, Chrysler had the crossover equipped with under-floor storage lockers, climate control vents accompanied by a control panel, extra power outlets, interior child view mirror, an optional hard drive-based stereo/navigation/mobile phone system, optional booster seats for children, theatre seating, front and passenger airbags, third row foldaway seats, traction control, tire pressure monitors, rollover sensing, trailer sway control, and a rear back-up camera.

In terms of construction, the Dodge Journey was equipped with high-quality materials to match its unique engine options and features. Aluminum was used for its hood while high-strength steel was used for about one-third of the crossover’s body. Composite plastic was used to construct its tailgate. Currently, the Dodge Journey comes in five trims (SE, SXT, SXT All-Wheel Drive, R/T, and R/T All-Wheel Drive).
