Chrysler to Unveil New Logo at Detroit Show

Chrysler–maker of the funky PT Cruiser wagon, the Town and Country minivan, and the Pacifica midsize crossover–will be unveiling its new logo at the upcoming Detroit Auto Show. That’s still a couple more months down the road, so let’s thank some resourceful netizens for being able to acquire a copy from the patents site.

The logo retains the chrome winged structure of its predecessor, albeit with an edgier, more unified design. Interestingly, the Pentastar image is out again, it seems.

The Detroit Auto Show, formally-known as the North American International Auto Show, will be held from January 11 through 24.

2010 Toyota Tundra

The 2010 Toyota Tundra is Toyota’s latest contender in the full-size pickup segment. In the past, the Toyota Tundra has fared much better than the Sierra from GMC, and it looks to stay with the Ford F-150 in the middle of the pack behind the Chevrolet Silverado.

Here’s a 2010 Toyota Tundra Video from the web:

Chrysler PT Cruiser Stays Alive

Chrysler PT Cruiser Stays Alive

The Chrysler PT Cruiser

The Chrysler PT Cruiser

Thanks to the Chrysler PT Cruiser’s declining sales on epic proportions, the company had already said that it will discontinue the retro-styled wagon crossover SUV. However, new Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne is keen on keeping the model alive–at least for another year.

Marchionne confirmed that the PT Cruiser will continue production at the Chrysler plant in Toluca, Mexico. That’s good news for many people who are part of the PT Cruiser’s following.

The PT Cruiser started selling back in 2000 and was practically a hit right off the bat. It combined good retro looks with a pocket-friendly price. Chrysler sold over 50,000 PT Cruisers in 2008, but so far in 2009 has only managed to sell 8,591 units, effectively making the model a candidate for cancellation.

Volvo has launched a campaign using ski boots at Norway’s own alpine resorts. The skis were redecorated with the image of the new Volvo XC60 compact crossover SUV.

Kinda reminds me of Voltes V or the car Voltron’s feet.

Take a look at the resulting skis for yourselves:

CR-V CRAVE Ads: Chocolate Milk Video

CR-V CRAVE Ads: Chocolate Milk Video

I don’t know about you, but I love chocolate. And chocolate milk. Or milk chocolate. Coco Pops. Twix. Anything chocolate. So, when you combine chocolate and crossovers, that’s a winning combination right there (for me, at least).

That said, here’s the ‘chocolate milk’ version of Honda’s creative CRAVE ad campaign for the 2009 Honda CR-V.

More Ads: Honda CR-V

One of the more interesting Crossover Vehicle marketing campaigns was the Crave campaign for the Honda CR-V. The campaign focused on equating the vehicle to cravings (cupcakes, for example) and leading off by highlighting CR-V in the word ‘CRAVE’.

Take a look at the 2008 version (click to enlarge):

And here is an earlier version (2006), featuring donuts:

Now, don’t go eating your CR-V. You have to admit, the CRAVE campaign sure is scrumptious.
